Garden at Clos du Verger

An inquiry and practice. Cultivating conditions for flourishing with all life.

Inquiry

Life exists through relationships.

Yet many of the systems and cultures we have created – and that shape us in turn – are built upon assumptions of separation: between ourselves and the rest of nature, mind and body, knowledge and experience.

The Field brings science, culture and spirituality into relationship to explore what changes when we remember our interdependence with all life – and begin to live and act from it.

What conditions and practices help us experience
our interdependence with one another,
place, and the living Earth?

How might this change the way we live,
work, decide and care together?

Practices

Five interconnected practices
ground our inquiry.

Practiced together, they help bring our
interdependence into lived experience.

Cultivating Presence

Attending to what is here

Remembering the Past

Encountering histories and deep time in place

Imagining Futures

Opening possibilities
beyond what is

Storytelling Otherwise

Telling stories that reshape our world

Sharing Power

Changing how we participate
and decide with the living world

In the Field

The inquiry takes form through relationships.

We engage through intimate gatherings, immersive public conversations, stories from the field and participatory mapping of communities, practices and places — bringing science, culture and spirituality into relationship with one another and the living Earth.

Field Circles

Small gatherings for shared inquiry,
attention and practice rooted in place.

Beginning with 12 Field Circles in Geneva, we explore how presence, intimacy, stories and shared practices deepen our connection with one another, place and the living Earth — and shape how we live and act.

Fieldnotes

Traces from the field.

Stories, observations and reflections shared by people cultivating the field in different places and ways — offering glimpses into their encounters, experiences and practices.

About

The Field began long before it had a name.

Its earliest seed was the childhood experience of The Field’s founding steward Barbara Bulc in a summer meadow in Slovenska Bistrica, Slovenia – a profound sense of belonging with flowering grasses, sunlight and wind, without separation from the living world.

Decades of work across science, business, global health, international institutions and civic innovation – alongside a deepening spiritual and contemplative practice – kept bringing her back to a question: what changes when we remember that we are not separate – from one another, place, or the living Earth?

In 2025, The Field began taking form in Geneva through gatherings around this inquiry. From these roots, it is being cultivated across places through shared practices and encounters, weaving different ways of knowing and experiencing into living relationship.
